Rabbit Holes & Meditations - Understanding the Bible
Dump the preachy, Bible-thumping, judgemental sermons, and join me on a path to fellowship, friendship, optimism, and hope. Yeah, we’ll go down some rabbit holes that might be uncomfortable at times - we’re not trying to avoid that. We’re discussing the Bible and its relevance in our upside-down world. We try to apply what we learn with our every day lives. We are NOT telling what to think. We ARE trying to make you think. The best journey through the Bible is personal. I hope this opens your eyes and ears to want to know more. We provide Biblical references in our discussions so that you can use each episode as a Bible study. We’d also love to engage with our listeners and create episodes from conversations and questions that they might want to have. No subject is off the table, so strap in.

To the Church of Sardis - The Church of the Walking Dead
Wednesday Apr 02, 2025
Wednesday Apr 02, 2025
I spent a lot of time in this, even though it is quite a short letter. Perhaps, because I think about this every time I pass by a church and notice an empty parking lot... sometimes even on Sunday mornings! Of all the letters, one can blow by this one so easily yet it reflects a lot of our churches today. I hope this truly resonates with you, the individual church goer or especially if you're a church leader.
Me? I'm just one of those people in the hallway. This podcast is a way for me to dig deep into scripture, to carry the torch in some way. But what I think we're missing is spelled out so clearly in this letter. We have included our worship in our week, like it's a checkmark in our to-do list (and many not even that). These empty buildings could be sooo much more!

Letter to Pergamum - Beware Compromises
Tuesday Apr 01, 2025
Tuesday Apr 01, 2025
Christianity is a miracle! When you dig deep into the backdrop of the cultures where Christianity was introduced, you see everything against it! The existing spiritual practices, the pagan religions, the state, the economy and even the Jews!
Pergamum is no exception. Once you see who they are and what they had to deal with, you can understand why Christ had to rebuke them for compromising on their faith.
And lest we think it was an issue for those way back then that we don't have to think about, THINK AGAIN.
You may see elements of compromise in your own church that Jesus talks about here. It's a sobering thought.

Letter To Smyrna - Stand Against the State
Monday Mar 31, 2025
Monday Mar 31, 2025
When you dig into Smyrna what you'll find is evolution of Statism ideologies. Smyrna was told to resist, and boy did they! Wait until you hear about the story of Polycarp. It is a story that harkens back to epic Old Testament classics.
This is one of the shortest letters to the churches that has deep ideological repercussions even up to the present day and even into the later chapters of Revelation.

Echoes of a Grand Delusion - Beneath the Surface
Thursday Mar 27, 2025
Thursday Mar 27, 2025
I started thinking more deeply about the discovery under Giza and basically just came to the conclusion that this is just another story in the tapestry of the things that got us here! I think is fair to at least try to connect the pre-flood era to perhaps what the discoveries in Giza might represent. More importantly, does it change anything in our core beliefs as Christians. It shouldn't, but some will be challenged not just by this but by things on the technological horizon.
Hold fast to your core beliefs. I think things in the next couple of years are going to get crazy!
1 Timothy 4:1 (NIV): “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”
2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 (ESV): “The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.”

The Final Act - From Jerusalem to Rome
Thursday Mar 27, 2025
Thursday Mar 27, 2025
If you listened to the last podcast (Through the Wilderness), it dovetails nicely with Paul's last journey in Acts. Paul forges ahead on an epic adventure to get to Rome. This is quintessential Paul on his last physical journey in the Book of Acts. This also completes our podcast series on Acts. I'm not sure where we go next... but it's been a wild ride through Acts!

This is a commentary on a message delivered by Brian and Lauren Hinkle that I think can resonate with each of us. How do you deal with the hardships, the difficult times... those times where your only thought is "I need this to be over!"
We're almost finished Podcasting through Acts and I'm reminded of how Paul embraced his journey to bring the message of Jesus to the gentiles. Had not Paul suffered his own journey through the wilderness, I'm wondering if I'd be sitting here today with that message to embrace and to consider.

Harmonizing Real World Events to END TIMES PROPHECY
Tuesday Mar 25, 2025
Tuesday Mar 25, 2025
If you've been following, we seen 3-4 rapture theories. They never sit right with me and I started asking some deeper questions. This production comes from trying to reconcile Old and New Testament prophecy with some brow raising questions we have to contend with:
We don't have a physical temple - how does the abomination of desecration play out.
NO WHERE in the New Testament is there mention of a 7-year tribulation! This is a stark contradiction to most end time revelation theories. I looked at the prophecies from Danial (the first 3.5 years) and guess what? They line up perfectly with Christ's ministry!
We also had to posit a theory for how the world would explain a rapture. People can't just return to normal after it happens and there would have to be some viable explanation. I've asked friends about this and the consensus was Alien Abduction. I didn't go with that theory because it doesn't really match up with something we have at our disposal (say if all this went down tomorrow!). So, I came up with CERN.
As we move forward from today, we all know that A.I., robotics, transhumanism are all becoming pretty viable so they make their way into a plausible End Times theory.
Ultimately, we created this theory and tested it against end times prophecy to make sure we didn't have any gaping holes. What you're about to hear, as far fetched as it sounds, is viable using the technology we have at our disposal today (perhaps even more so a year from now). A.I. is developing exponentially beyond our expectations.
I encourage you to question deeply. Do you own deep dives and maybe you can come up with something even more plausible. At the very least, you should find this episode thought provoking, if not, at least entertaining.

Bible Prophecy vs All Other - And Where it is Leading
Tuesday Mar 25, 2025
Tuesday Mar 25, 2025
Think of this podcast as the cliff notes for the movie Prophetic Convergence (find it on YouTube). The reliability and accuracy of Bible Prophecy suggests (at least to me) that you cannot ignore what the Bible prophesies about end times. If, up to this point in history, the Bible has been right, why - all of sudden - would you think that it would get the next step in our future history wrong? Yet many people will ignore it.... Just as in the days of Noah.

The Christian Threat
Tuesday Mar 25, 2025
Tuesday Mar 25, 2025
As I'm podcasting through Acts, it struck me how little has changed. Reflecting on the growing tensions in the world, it's interesting to see how people see Christianity as a threat. A whisper of Christianity in North Korea can get you into some serious trouble. Even here in the U.S., people want to marginalize Christians. It's fascinating (and disturbing to some). Honestly, in 2000 years... it seems that not a lot has changed really.

The Church as the Bride - Pictures the Rapture Perfectly
Monday Mar 24, 2025
Monday Mar 24, 2025
I know! I said not to sweat the rapture, but I can't leave it alone! I DON'T KNOW when or even "if" and the anticipation is killing me! It's like being a kid waiting for Christmas day! You remember that? When you stayed up all night because you couldn't sleep. That is EXACTLY how Christ said you should be for his return!
Jesus was well aware of Jewish tradition and there is no question he likened the church to his Bride.
If we are like the bride:
What Happens to the Bride Before a Jewish Wedding?
In ancient Jewish wedding customs, the bride (a picture of the Church) went through a specific process leading up to the wedding, which forms the beautiful prophetic backdrop for the Rapture:
1. Betrothal (Kiddushin)
The bride was legally pledged to the groom.
A covenant was made, often sealed with a cup of wine.
The groom would pay a price for her (called the mohar), symbolizing value and commitment.
Jesus paid a price for us—the bride of Christ—through His blood. (1 Corinthians 6:20)
2. Separation and Preparation
The groom would return to his father's house to prepare a place for the bride.
The bride would wait and prepare herself, not knowing the exact day of the wedding.
Jesus said: “I go to prepare a place for you... and will come again” (John 14:2–3)
The Church is now in this phase—betrothed, waiting, preparing.
3. The bride is taken
At an unexpected hour, the groom would come with a shout and a trumpet to retrieve the bride.
She would be snatched away to the groom’s house (often at night).
This is an unmistakable parallel to the Rapture:
“...with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God…” (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
4. Wedding Ceremony (Nissuin)
The bride and groom would be hidden away for seven days.
Afterward, the marriage supper would be held—a time of joy and celebration with guests.
Many see this as symbolizing the Church being with Christ during the seven-year tribulation (hidden away), followed by the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7–9).
That said... the jury is still out on the rapture. Many of the weddings in the Bible did not wait the 7 days for the marriage feast. The tradition as Jesus would have understood it though, clearly is represented above. We can always hope.
If you want more clarity on this subject, check out Before the Wrath. It is a movie that is on YouTube. A friend of mine told me about it and it is absolutely, and starkly fascinating! It has me convinced of a Pre-Trib Rapture. We still don't know the date and you're not supposed to (that's in the movie as well). The movie is totally worth your time. https://youtu.be/rteKYDGPwzI?si=yRlsfAXTOl21D6Zk

The Clash of Religions
Sunday Mar 23, 2025
Sunday Mar 23, 2025
As we see Acts 21 and 22 unfold, I'm reminded that this is not a one off sort of event. The clash of religions, here between the Jews and the Gentiles, unfolds in history. It's amazing how much religious strife and friction has divided and shaped our world.
The Jews were chosen by God to be a light to the world. Clearly the Jews did not interpret this as their religion morphing into Christianity and being spread throughout the gentile world. We see Paul take his life into his own hands has he returns to Jerusalem - perhaps with a message of unity but ultimately that is not what was to transpire.

Don't Sweat Over the Rapture
Saturday Mar 22, 2025
Saturday Mar 22, 2025
There are so many dates, so many interpretations. What does the text actually say? You don't really need to dig for it. 1 Thessalonians 4, Matthew 24, and Revelation 3:10 all hint at a rapture. BUT - interpretations abound and I think timing is always open to debate (my last podcast is an example).
Even Paul has to write another letter to the Thessalonians because there was so much confusion and false teaching about the Rapture ( 2 Thessalonians 3).
I LOVE revelation and Bible study on the subject. Revelation was the first book I ever studied deeply in the Bible.
But I think this: there is a danger in the hope of a date set in your heart for a pre-tribulation rapture (or even mid-tribulation). If that date comes and goes, what will you do? Many people - depending on their fortitude - will give up.
Here's where all this discussion starts: 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 - Read it on its face.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up [raptured] together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
... When I read the straight text, this seems to be an event that happens when Christ returns (Paul supports this in 2 TH 2)... not before. However, this scripture seems to specifically address the return of Christ. It is not a scripture debunking the pre-trib rapture theory if one reads the entire context carefully.
So, like most, I love the discussion. I present all the perspectives, but I rest in the idea that I will reign with Christ. How I get there is less important... as long as I am steadfast in my faith and ready always.
This podcast may be a sobering reminder to open your Bible more and depend less on the hype and more on the message.

Patterns of Rapture Events
Saturday Mar 22, 2025
Saturday Mar 22, 2025
There is nothing more fun than watching an excited Christian explain something that he considers revelation.
I'm a little torn on the idea of predicting rapture dates. I err on the side of readiness. STILL - people that do this generally have a deep understanding of Scripture and are able to connect the dots you may not have considered. I don't trust the date but I love the pattern development done by Dr. Awe.
This PODCAST reviews a video by Dr. Barry Awe. It's fascinating, educational and if he's right, you better buckle up!

The Definitive Last Word On Baptism
Saturday Mar 22, 2025
Saturday Mar 22, 2025
As I have dug deeper into scripture, I've heard all of the arguments of salvation by faith alone. If you go deep, this is a red herring and I think a very dangerous message!
Jesus commands Baptism.
For those who argue the Thief on the cross... Jesus was not dead yet!
For those who go to Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
That was the same Paul talking: whom Jesus commanded be baptized! Paul is speaking to the Ephesians who were all baptized!
Baptism is an act of your faith. If you believe in Jesus, then you will do as he commands.
This podcast digs deeper into why baptism is necessary. If you are still debating, dig deeper. Get baptized and I'll see you in heaven!

You Don't Have to Like Paul - To Love Him
Friday Mar 21, 2025
Friday Mar 21, 2025
In my research on Paul, I've found this thread of anti-Paul sentiment that can be a bit unnerving. What I didn't like, is many go with that gut-feeling without digging into the nature of Paul's (perhaps flawed) character. This Podcast flushes out those sentiments and helps put Paul into perspective as [yes] a flawed HUMAN and highly beneficial contributor to the Christian movement.
The "source" referenced in this commentary is ChatGPT (which I use quite often). I am the antagonist. I've posted the notes to the original conversation here. The Google Podcasters do a good job at trying to see both sides and flushing out why some people might be turned off by Paul.

Paul's Mission Coming To A Close (Acts 20)
Thursday Mar 20, 2025
Thursday Mar 20, 2025
We have seen God working through Paul for quite some time. Let's take the time to recap his last 20-25 years. It's easy to blow through 20 chapters of Acts and not recognize that we are walking with Paul to bring the message of Christ to the world and that took a quarter of a century!
We see Paul still doing miracles in Acts 20 - it's become almost part of his everyday routine it seems.
We see the heart wrenching departure and his final words to the Elders of Ephesus.
We see what Jesus recognized in Paul - an amazing and dedicated leader who gave his heart and soul for the love of God and His Saviour.
If you can picture the last scenes of this chapter in your mind, meditate on them a bit, I doubt you can do it without shedding a tear for what Paul has done and is still yet to go through.

Inquisitive Reading - Acts 19
Wednesday Mar 19, 2025
Wednesday Mar 19, 2025
This podcast is a little different. It is a peak under the hood really. I don't want to pretend that this podcast is the definitive commentary on the Bible. It is not! If you're listening to this Podcast, you are seeing the answers to questions I have as I dig through the scripture. Sometimes the answers are not straightforward (like the whole dialogue with baptism). I use a number of resources. Several different Bibles with different commentaries; even a Septuagint Bible and of course online bibles. I use blueletterbible.org A LOT. Normally, I'll have ChatGPT pull up the scripture I'm studying and then as I read it, I ask the questions that pop into my mind. That is how I derive most of the content on this Podcast. The voice commentary is Google NotebookLM Sometimes they go off on their own tangents too. All output is reviewed and edited for accuracy (as well as I can define it) and conversational flow.
You, the listener, get the advantage of "listening in". I hope it sparks your own curiosity and there's nothing preventing you from taking the same path to understanding the Bible. I would highly recommend it.
For those of you skeptical about ChatGPT as a resource, consider one of the focused bible resources as an alternative. I can say that ChatGPT has not been bad. There are times where I'll get into an "argument" and while challenging, it is also fun (for me). Here are the direct - unedited excerpts that instigated this podcast so you get to see what the original conversation with ChatGPT looks like.

Paul - RELIGION and REASON
Saturday Mar 15, 2025
Saturday Mar 15, 2025
I was a major philosophy buff in my later years... and an atheist. Until I found someone that could meet me where I stood, could make the message of Christ resonate with my existing world view. Oh, to be a fly on the wall when Paul addressed the Greeks! Paul was not out to "win". He knew that a head-on confrontation with the Epicureans and the Stoics would not go well. What he did was magical - and changed the world.
I'm kind of upset frankly, that in all of my philosophical studies, Paul's message was not part of the teaching. I guess that speaks to the objective view and motivation of most philosophy teachers. Somehow, reason and religion don't mix... except when they do.

As a guy producing this podcast, I've grown to appreciate the role of women in the spread of the Christian message. Without women, I think the movement would have fallen flat. Surprise! the early church had its human elements! Traditions, culture and personalities all played a role. There are lessons we could certainly use today with how to grapple with human tension and conflict... Perhaps, we take our eyes too much off Jesus when we find ourselves in similar situations. Something to ponder. You need look no further than when the President addresses both parties to see how far we've drifted from civility and public discourse.

The Christian Frontlines - Persecution Today
Monday Mar 10, 2025
Monday Mar 10, 2025
After reading and pondering Acts Chapter 14, I got to thinking about the bravery that Paul must have had. Acts 14 is the first of many times Paul would endure that kind of persecution. It might surprise you, even to the level of shock and disgust, that many Christians are very familiar with this level of persecution TODAY!
I did some research and it's beyond appalling. We enjoy "freedom of religion" here in the United States... though I don't know for how long. My church supports a mission in Indonesia and some of what goes on there pales in comparison to what happens in other places.
We have not progressed much as a society when you see what is happening to Christians around the world. It really is sad and scary. My heart goes out to some of these people... They show just as much bravery as Paul and the early Christians. It's truly amazing.

Baptism is a requirement for salvation! This is not an opinion. This is not an "interpretation" of scripture. JESUS SAID IT! This was one of the most difficult podcasts to create because A.I. wants to be neutral on the subject. Your church may not emphasize the need for Baptism, or may not do it at all. It's worth questioning... not with your church elders or even what ChatGPT says. There is an important lesson on discernment here: READ WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS.
We call out Mark 16:16 because the first clause in the statement is unequivocal. In big red letters, Jesus said: "Whoever believes AND is baptized will be saved." I highlight the "AND" in that sentence. God gave me a very mathematical, logical brain. So I went here. Basic logic says that BOTH sides of the "AND" must be true for the conclusion to also be true. If either side is false, the conclusion fails. The logic is stated like this: IF A and B then C. If either A or B (or both) are false, then C is false. Once I pointed this out to ChatGPT, I started to get a completely different opinion of baptism - fascinating. ChatGPT even suggested the necessity of baptism to be saved. It was interesting and eye opening.
I have to admit that I initially was siding with the "Faith is enough" argument (John 3:16 right?) although I've been baptized myself. John 3:16 testifies to the first part of Mark 16:16, i.e. Belief, but it does not negate the 2nd part. And it is absolutely true that Belief is a prerequisite. The message from Mark 16:16 supports this too but includes the need for baptism. I raised this question with two brothers and they both suggested that I dig deeper. I can't thank them enough for the lesson in discernment. I fell into the trap of letting my opinions be influenced by popular belief (and A.I.). This is a rabbit hole worth digging deep into.

Acts 13 - The Clash of New Ideas and Old Tradition
Thursday Mar 06, 2025
Thursday Mar 06, 2025
Religion and Tradition prevents Paul's message from sinking into those who can't let go of a lifetime of religion and practice. Acts 13 highlights why it was such a difficult message for the Jews. Put yourself in a place where you have deeply embedded beliefs and practices and then someone comes along and challenges you whole world view. So, why even start in the Synagogues. There were people there were not so entrenched in the Jewish Law. The "God Fearers". Remember Cornelius (Acts 10). These people were ready to hear the message. Paul was the perfect person to deliver it... and yes, he probably did attract even some deep-seated Jewish followers.

Torah Codes Point To God
Monday Mar 03, 2025
Monday Mar 03, 2025
If you've heard about Torah Codes (or Bible Codes), you might dismiss this Podcast - BUT HOLD ON. This is different. This is NOT a random sequence of letters that most Bible Code enthusiasts love to find. This is much more complex than that.
1. The codes are repetitive and predictable (once you know the sequence)
2. The words (revealed in the Podcast) are repeated over and over again... this is not just the random appearance of a word the might or might not be by chance. The probability of this happening by chance is astronomically low!
3. The word occurs backwards in a similar repeating sequence in two other books.
ULTIMATELY - The Goal of this podcast is to get you to WANT to read the Book of Leviticus. What? Really? Listen! If this doesn't make you want to dig deeper into Leviticus, then you just are intellectually or spiritually curious.
Leviticus: Study it. Understand it. It is not just a book of rules. It is a book about how to get close to God. After doing this Podcast, we decided that we are going to do a series on Leviticus (after we finish with Acts). It should be fascinating.

Walking With God
Monday Mar 03, 2025
Monday Mar 03, 2025
Who "Walked With God"? What does it mean and how can you do it to? It's easier than you think. Here's some scripture to refer back to.
Psalm 32:8
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you."
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
Isaiah 55:8-9
"'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the Lord. 'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'"
Romans 12:1-2
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Proverbs 16:3
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
Psalm 37:4-5
"Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:"
Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
John 14:26
"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

Transhumanism - The New Tower of Babel
Saturday Mar 01, 2025

I know this whole topic seems out there... but is it really? Elon Musk has already succeeded with Neurolink! AI is taking off. We were introduced the whole concept of nano technology during COVID. Reports of UFO's all over the place (real or imagined?). Ultimately, whether you want to believe it or not, your response is simple: stay grounded and hold fast to your Bible.
This podcast was inspired by this video from Chuck Missler. He's no slouch when it comes to the Bible and this plays like a documentary of a sci-fi movie. Hold on!

False Religions and Apostasy
Saturday Mar 01, 2025
Saturday Mar 01, 2025
If your faith isn't rooted in the Gospels, check your sources. Stick to this> If a religion pops up after these eye-witness accounts (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and you follow them, you are wading into dangerous territory. Spend time in your Old Testament - IT POINTS TO CHRIST. As you read it, always be on the lookout for your savior! He's there on every page! I pray that you're not led astray. Three Scriptures to remember: John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’"
Galatians 1:6-9 I marvel that [you all] are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Friday Feb 28, 2025
Friday Feb 28, 2025
God orchestrates a meeting between Cornelius and Peter. How the events unfold in this chapter is awesome. A testimony to how God is always working behind the scenes to make sure His Will Be Done! Acts 10 teaches us that obedience often comes before understanding. If God tells you to do something, do it! You'll flush out the meaning as you do what God has commanded. It also teaches us to read your Old Testament! Cornelius knew God! He was ready for the message of Jesus and Peter was the right man to bring him the Good News.

If you were witnessing endtimes, how would it look if you had no biblical perspective? If these descriptions all seem too real, time to brush up! A lot of Christians seem to want to avoid discussions of Tribulation. A lot of pastors never talk about it. Revelation, by contrast, says that those who hear this will be blessed! Read it, learn it and understand it. It's fascinating and you may need a worldview that makes sense when this starts all rolling out in real time.

Losing God in Our Accomplishments
Tuesday Feb 25, 2025
Tuesday Feb 25, 2025
I was wrestling (still am) with how much time do I spend with God vs. the rest of my day. People kept telling me - balance! I'm convinced that is the wrong answer. You don't put your bible away after you read a couple of chapters and go on and do your thing at work. Ultimately, what I am trying to figure out is how to keep God close to me everywhere and in everything I do, and that includes work. This short podcast is about what happens when we leave God and go to work. I'm podcasting through this to help me think through this. Welcome to the Rabbit Holes of my personal life!

That ultimately is the question we're asking.

Sin and Addiction - Two Sides of the Same Coin
Saturday Feb 22, 2025
Saturday Feb 22, 2025
I produced this podcast after watching an episode of House (Hugh Laurie stars in a medical series about a crass doctor - Gregory House - who is in constant pain and addicted to Vicodin). It got me to thinking about how close the cycle of sin and the cycle of addiction really are and as I went down this rabbit-hole, it became more obvious. I've had to deal with addiction in my family - we probably all have - and we need to step back and recognize that not only might you be able to help a person with addiction, but that person might be able to help you! If they are already seeking help, they know about sin recovery than you might be willing to admit about your own addictions.

Why Valentine's Day
Friday Feb 14, 2025
Friday Feb 14, 2025
I just wanted to know the origin of Valentine's Day, so I asked and answered. Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!
A Modern Valentine’s DreamInspired by Chaucer for our modern ears
Love takes time, yet life is brief,A fleeting joy, a spark so sweet.A mystery profound, both sharp and bright,It lifts the heart, then fades from sight. When love takes hold, it pulls me deep—I float, I sink, I wake, I sleep.
I do not know love’s ways firsthand,Nor how it moves at fate’s command. But oft in books, its tale is spun—A battle lost, a battle won. They say love rules with hand unseen,A whisper soft, a force supreme.
One evening late, ‘neath candle’s glow,I found a book from long ago.Its pages spoke of fate and chance,Of hearts that burn and souls that dance.I read until the night grew thin,And dreams of love came rushing in.
Like Scipio once, I saw a place—A garden filled with life and grace.Where birds of every shape and hueHad come to find a love that's true.On Valentine’s Day, they gathered there,To seek a mate, a bond to share.
There stood Nature, wise and tall,Ruling over them all.Eagles noble, wrens so small,Each would make their rightful call.
Then there she stood—so pure, so bright,A queen among them, bathed in light.Three suitors came, both strong and fair,Each swore his love beyond compare.
One pledged devotion, deep and true,A love unshaken, firm as dew.One vowed to wait forever long,A love that time could not turn wrong. The last one burned with fire untamed,A love like lightning, fierce and claimed.
The birds all called, they cried and fought,Which love was best? What should be sought?Yet Nature spoke with wisdom clear:"Let love decide, let choice be near."
The lady blushed, then bowed her head,Her words like music, soft she said:"I choose to wait, to take my time,For love must rise like stars that climb."
So the birds took flight in song,And Valentine’s Day moved along.I woke with thoughts still in my mind,Of love, of choice, and fate entwined. For love is patient, love is wise,It lives in hearts, not in the skies.

Truth vs. Power
Tuesday Feb 11, 2025
Tuesday Feb 11, 2025
Acts 4 is a clear example of how a movement routed in truth can topple even the mightiest. Two seemingly insignificant people (Peter and John) take on the established ruling and religious elite classes of their day and leave them dumbfounded with their own ignorance, hypocrisy, and inability to respond. Peter and John don't need rehearsed, orchestrated responses... they have the Holy Spirit, the Truth, at their back. Their arguments are persuasive, and they resonate with people who know the scripture as well as the ruling class. People know the truth. The Sadducees are caught between maintaining their political power vs losing any allegiance they might have within the ranks of the people.

Jesus also reflects on the ideas of servant-driven leadership.

MARK: Intro to Podcast Series for the Gospel of Mark
Saturday Jan 04, 2025
Saturday Jan 04, 2025
We are introducing a series that walks our listeners through the Gospel of Mark. We realize that our Podcasts can go down many rabbit holes and can be confusing to some. So, with this, we will attempt to maintain clarity and hopefully eliminate some confusion as you listen. Yes, we will still go down some rabbit holes but only to support what we are reading in Mark and give you some of the back story, context, and a deeper understanding. The Gospel of Mark is like the cliff-notes version of the Gospels, so we'll have many opportunities to dig deeper.

We are walking through the Gospel of Mark. He's an overview of the Gospel of Mark before we jump in.

Rabbit Holes and Meditations
I am your quintessential conspiracy theorist. I don't believe anything without digging deep. I don't take anything for granted. I have to "know" something to believe it. I like to study it, mull it over, think about it, question it and learn from it. When I find a nugget, I love to share it.
I could have taken this podcast down so many paths, but the one I chose is the path I've always been on.
My life without God led me to God.
I generate these podcasts by conversing with AI systems. The ideas come from my natural need to know more. AI affords me access to resources to create deep, enriching answers to my questions.
One caveat: AI is fallable. There are even times when I'll release a podcast that I don't even agree with! The point is to get you to think and engage.
(note: references to things like "the excerpt and content" are simply because speakers are referencing a document I've put in front of them that is AI generated script with no real author. I created the idea for the podcast but AI scripted it.)
Because this is so important, I want to provide my own AI Prompt which you are free to use for your own AI Biblical Studies.

FINAL NOTE:
If you’ve made it this far, I want to speak to you plainly. I'm probably not a lot different than you. We're walking this road together.
The Bible says that every one of us has sinned — not just in our behavior, but in our hearts. Sin isn’t merely doing bad things; it’s living apart from God, rejecting His authority, and falling short of His glory (Romans 3:23). That sin brings judgment. Not just physical death, but eternal separation from God (Hebrews 9:27).
But the good news — the best news — is that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save sinners. He lived a sinless life. He died on a Roman cross. And He rose again on the third day. His death wasn’t symbolic — it was substitutionary. He took the wrath that sinners deserve, so that through Him, we might be forgiven.
Salvation is not earned. It’s not found in church attendance, moral effort, or spiritual feelings. It comes only by repenting of sin and trusting in Jesus Christ — crucified, risen, and reigning — as Lord and Savior.
If you’ve never done that, now is the time. Don’t delay. This isn’t about religion. It’s about your eternal soul.
If you’re unsure, wrestling, or have questions — reach out. Don’t walk away from the truth. Christ is calling. Respond to Him today.
I'm not a preacher, a prophet, or even a very good evangelist. I'm walking the same road as you. Still, if you need someone to listen to you, send me a note. Maybe I can help.
