Valentines Day - A Day Late and a Dollar Short
Ok, I couldn't let this go. The only thing that Valentine Day seems to have in common with anything biblical is the word "saint" in front of the name way back when. This is truly a hallmark holiday. Want to know how commercialized? I stopped at White Castle yesterday (February 14th), bought a sack of fries (the ONLY thing I eat at While Castle!) and sat down at a table to relax, eat the fries and a diet coke.
Someone working at White Castle came up and asked me if I had reserved my table. Huh? THIS IS WHITE CASTLE! I looked around, there were 5-6 empty tables - all with cheap pink plastic table clothes covering the table. I didn't think much of it when I walked in; just cheap holiday decoration. Now! If you're taking your girlfriend to White Castle for Valentines... umm - well - I'll let you ask your girlfriend if that's a good idea.
Anyway, this is what I discovered about Valentines Day. Feel free to skip this podcast honestly - I skipped the entire day though I did buy my Mom a bloomed pink Azalea (my dad died three years ago). I don't like buying dead roses for the day. Turns out she doesn't like roses either - unless they are growing in the garden.
