Faithful Living in Babylon
Daniel One: 8-21
We land on Daniel chapter one verses 8-21 today. As I read through this, I thought, well this is a pretty quick read. Then I started to think about Daniel. He is probably in his late teens or early twenties. He should be in the prime of his life. His city just got slaughtered. He was kidnapped and taken to a foreign country. He is now living under house arrest, and his primary thought is to remain faithful. Daniel is so remembered for his prophecy, that sometimes we forget to look at the man. We don't idolize people, but we should consider their example. The rabbit holes in verses 8-21 are gold for self-reflection. Daniel was a dreamer... He looked at life beyond his captivity. He lived for what he saw in his dreams, for what he believed. We can honor Daniel's legacy by not forgetting the man who embraced his faith and his gifts in the darkest hours of his life.
