Acts 13 - The Clash of New Ideas and Old Tradition
Religion and Tradition prevents Paul's message from sinking into those who can't let go of a lifetime of religion and practice. Acts 13 highlights why it was such a difficult message for the Jews. Put yourself in a place where you have deeply embedded beliefs and practices and then someone comes along and challenges you whole world view.
So, why even start in the Synagogues. There were people there were not so entrenched in the Jewish Law. The "God Fearers". Remember Cornelius (Acts 10). These people were ready to hear the message. Paul was the perfect person to deliver it... and yes, he probably did attract even some deep-seated Jewish followers.
